Arlene Holen Nominated as Commissioner


On May 20, 2005, President Bush Announced his intention to nominate Arlene Holen of the District of Columbia, to be a member of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission for the remainder of a six year term expiring August 30, 2010.

Mrs. Holen is currently Director for Research and Reports for the Congressional Budget Office. Mrs. Holen previously served as Chairman and Commissioner during the administration of President George H. W. Bush and has previously been employed in the Office of Management and Budget, the President's Counsel of Economic Advisers, and other Federal agencies.

In making the announcement to staff, Chairman Michael F. Duffy offered his congratulations on Mrs. Holen's renomination and hoped that the Senate will promptly consider her nomination so that the Commission can soon return to its full complement of members.

The Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission is an independent adjudicative agency that provides administrative trial and appellate review of legal disputes arising under the Federal Mine Safety and Health Amendments Act of 1977.
