Michael F. Duffy, Chairman of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission announced today the publication of proposed revisions to the Commission's procedural rules, regulations implementing the Equal Access to Justice Act, and regulations implementing the Privacy Act in order to aid the efficient adjudication of proceedings at the Commission's trial and appellate levels and to ensure consistency with the statutes underlying those regulations.
"I wish to thank the mining and legal community for their participation, comments and suggestions in the development of these proposed rule revisions," stated Chairman Duffy in noting that this is the first major rules revision at the Commission in 13 years. The Commission encouraged comments and public participation in its October 27, 2004, Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking.
The Commission's proposed rule changes are published in the January 5, 2006 Federal Register and are linked to the Federal Register on the Commission's website at http://www.fmshrc.gov under the heading "What's New".
